Layers and Tiers

What is the difference?

Layers: 'The building blocks that make your cake'.
Most of our cakes are made up of three individual layers of sponge in the cake usually sandwiched with butter cream and a jam or curd filling.

Tiers: Most of our celebration cakes are single tiers, but for big celebrations of weddings when you need to serve more people you can tier your cake and each tier can be different flavours.
i.e. Traditional wedding cake is usually three tiers that feature a base of fruit cake (helping to support heavier tiers), centre traditional vanilla sponge, top tier choclate or lemon.
