My name is Becky and I am a former wedding photographer.

In 2006 after graduating from university, I started my own photography business working part time as a wedding and events photographer, meaning I was still able to do a full time job working weekdays 9-5.

In May 2015 I left my full time job as a website manager and content creator, a job I had been doing for the best part of 9 years, to finally become a full time self employed photographer.

Being a photographer was the perfect role for me at that time, as I was able to pick and choose jobs when they became available; meaning that I was still being able to take on the role of carer for my mum, who was struggling with mobility due to osteoarthritis as well as other health conditions.

In 2020 as you can probably guess due to a global pandemic my wedding work had dried up and because I was also a carer for  Mum, I was increasingly fearful about doing door step photography; so at the end of September 2020 I made the heart breaking decision to shut down my business that I had been building since 2006.

Since then I've been really struggling with no real income, bills to pay and the guilt of relying upon my wonderful husband and incredible family.

I've always been a pretty passionate home baker and enjoyed making cakes for my step daughter, family and friends.

I have often been told things like: "You should open a shop", "Your cakes are to die for", "Beck you need to do something with your talent".

In 2023 I had a discussion with my husband and cousin and with their support we together have built a stand alone kitchen for the business.

Funded entirely by myself, it's a space I am extremely proud of and it is my safe haven, my little 'SHED' will be the home of

Sweet Treats Liverpool.

My initial start date was to be the 11th August 2024 (Registered with LCC)

But that wasn't to be...

On the 9th August 2024 my mums health worsened, and she was admitted to hospital, with an unexpected long stay ahead in September she was sent home bed bound.

When October came around her care became palliative, with support from Marie Curie Stars, I was able to care for Mum at home as she wished.

During this time I wasn't prepared to think about baking, every day was a blur and I honestly don't remember much of those last four months.

From mid November I stayed with her day and night,  and on the 15th January 2025 I held her hand as she took her last breath.

I now feel ready to pick myself up and push forward with the business, it's what Mum would be telling me to do.

So, with everything in place from my Level 2 Food Hygiene  and my Allergen certificates (both to a high pass rate), re-registered with my local EHO, started some online courses and now I am so excited to see what the future holds

for me & my little Sweet Treats!

Hope to be baking for you very soon
