MY STORY

Acceber Pictures
My original photography business - Acceber (my name backwards pronounced acc-e-bear)

Family party in our garden for mums 80th birthday
From photography to baking

My name is Becky and I am a former wedding photographer.
In 2006 after graduating from university, I started my own photography business working part time as a wedding and events photographer, meaning I was still able to do a full time job working weekdays 9-5.
In May 2015 I left my full time job as a website manager and content creator, a job I had been doing for the best part of 9 years, to finally become a full time self employed photographer which I'd been wanting to do since leaving university.
Being a photographer was the perfect role for me at that time, as I was able to pick and choose jobs when they became available; meaning that I was still being able to take on the role of carer for my mum, who was struggling with mobility due to osteoarthritis as well as other health conditions.
In 2020 as you can probably guess due to a global pandemic my wedding work had dried up and because I was also a carer for Mum, I was increasingly fearful about doing door step photography; so at the end of September 2020 I made the heart breaking decision to shut down my business that I had been building since 2006.
Since then I've been really struggling with no real income, bills to pay and the guilt of relying upon my wonderful husband.
I've always been a pretty passionate home baker and enjoyed making cakes for my step daughter, family and friends.
I have often been told things like: "You should open a shop", "Your cakes are to die for", "Beck you need to do something with your talent".
In 2023 I had a discussion with my husband and cousin and with their support we together have built a stand alone kitchen for the business, it's a space I am extremely proud of and it is my safe haven, my little 'SHED' will be the home of
Sweet Treats Liverpool.
Over the past few months my mums health had taken a serious turn, and in October 2024 she was put on palliative care. I stayed with her day and night and on the 15th January 2025 I held her hand as she took her last breath.
I know feel ready to pick myself up and push forward with the business, it's what Mum would be telling me to do.
So, I have taken a Level 2 Food Hygiene exam and my Allergen Test (both to a high pass rate), started some online courses and now I am so excited to see what the future holds for me & my little Sweet Treats!
Hope to be baking for you very soon
